RULES
5-on-5 Basketball Rules
1. There will be 5 players on the court for each team.
2. Games will be 20 minute halves with running time. Halftime is 3 minutes. During the last 2 minutes of the second half, the clock will stop for dead balls only if and when he point spread is 12 or less.
3. Overtime periods are 2 minutes in length with a limit of 3 overtimes with an exception of playoff time. The clock will stop for dead balls and time-outs.
4. Dunking is allowed only during the game. Any dunking before a game will result in a technical foul for the player that has dunked.
5. The bonus is in effect on the seventh foul of the half. On the tenth foul and following fouls, 2 free throws will be awarded.
6. Technical fouls will be called at the officials' discretion. Penalties for technical fouls will be assessed accordingly:
First Technical Foul: Player is dismissed from the current game and will be suspended for one additional game.
Second Technical Foul: Player is dismissed from the current game and will be suspended for a month following that night's game, including playoffs.
Third Technical Foul: Player is dismissed from the current game and will be suspended for the remainder of the season, including playoffs.
7. Each team gets a 10-minute grace period if they do not have enough players to play at starting time. 4 players must be present after the 10-minute grace period is over, or a forfeit will be called.
8. Each team must provide a scorekeeper for each of its games and the score sheet must be accurate with points, fouls, and time-outs. In addition, this score sheet must be turned in at the end of every game. If a score sheet is not submitted, the team at fault will automatically be given the loss.
9. Players are given 5 fouls.
10. Team are given 2 time-outs each half. An additional time-out will be given for each overtime period. Time-outs do not carry over from half to half or half to overtime periods. One timeout per team per overtime.
