Garst, Duren named to NABC Honors Court

ST. PAUL -- Northwestern College men's basketball players Eric Garst (Mesa, Ariz./Red Mountain) and John Duren (Austin, Minn./Austin) were recently named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honor Court. NABC Honor Court nominees must be a junior or senior academically who has maintained a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2008-09 academic year.
Garst, who is double majoring in business and biology at Northwestern, posted 6.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game in 29 contests in his junior year of 2008-09. He was second on the team in both assists (102) and steals (36). Duren, who graduated from Northwestern in May with a degree in history, averaged 7.1 points and 4.8 rebounds per game in 25 affairs.
Garst was also named to the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference (UMAC) Academic All-Conference team on Tuesday, which requires a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better for the two semesters in the 2008-09 academic year.
