Members of the Northwestern College women's basketball team are in the midst of a 10-day mission trip in Guatemala and El Salvador.  Follow along as they report each day's activities.

Day of Rest...sort of.

I am not a parent to the girls, just a coach...but feel just as proud of them as a parent might.  They have been so flexible and so willing to work hard in really hard situations.  So parents, I just want you to know that if you could see your daughters right now, you´d be beaming with pride.

Yesterday we got a much needed morning and afternoon of rest.  It brings new meaning to what the bible says about needing rest and finding some down time to spend with God.  Because of some great connections  that William (our El Salvador leader) has, we were able to go to a resort on the beach.  It was hot and it was fantastic!!!  The girls were giddy and it was so good to hear them giggle and laugh with one another.  They got a couple hours of fun in the waves.  For Becca, this was her first experience at the ocean and she laughed so hard and had so much fun.  Some of them rented boggie boards and hit the waves.  The sand was black and the water was in the mid 80´s for temp...again, it was a great day of rest.

We also we completely encouraged by Jaime (our Guatemala leader) and his testimony.  It is one that shines with God's grace and mercy.  It brought tears to our eyes and made us fall more in love with Jaime and his heart.  He has been so flexible dealing with all of us women!!!

After our hours of rest, we suited up and hit the cement floor and put on another clinic for some older women that was so fun.  Our team worked hard!  Afterwards, we played the national team again, but this time only lost by nine points.  The girls did great!  Mel took a couple of massive hits and got  banged up on her head and her knees, but she's fine!  She is working so hard inside and again i am reminded at how good the girls have adapted to dealing with the situations handed to them.  Maria made the local paper - don't worry, we got a copy!  We are a big deal here!!!!!  And I was so proud of Kelsey, she shared her testimony and it was awesome.  Again, it brought tears to my eyes!  I love how she is growing.  It is so fun to be a part of.  It was a late night and we are tired so pray for strength and healthy legs!  We are getting in the van in about three minutes (they are waiting for me) to head back to Guatemala.  We play again tonight...our fifth game in a row.  How about that Big Dog?

Again ...I am so proud of my team!  Loving how well they are spreading the Truth!!!
