Members of the Northwestern College women's basketball team are in the midst of a 10-day mission trip in Guatemala and El Salvador. Follow along as they report each day's activities.
We got to sleep in this morning and went to breakfast at Mister Donut around 10 a.m. Then we went back to our place to have a sweaty nap. Afterwards we drove out to a remote village that consisted of 700 families with about 3,500 people. We played games with the children and gave them candy and juice. The parents were given bags of clothes. Kaelee and I (Ashley) gave our testimonies to the crowd. The team gave our skit for the first time. It was very powerful and emotional. We were there approximately three hours. It was hard to go when the time came to leave.
Then we drove back into town to put on a clinic for young boys and girls. Right after the clinic we played a basketball game at the same place. Our game was on live TV along with our skit at half time and interviews with Ariel and JoAnn. We signed numerous balls, t-shirts, hats, and papers for the children. We took tons of pictures with the children and their families. We felt like superstars! After the game we had ice cream then headed back to shower before bed. It was a very productive day!
