Women's Basketball Trip Blog: Day 2
Email to a Friend | Print
Members of the Northwestern College women's basketball team are in the midst of a 10-day mission trip in Guatemala and El Salvador.  Follow along as they report each day's activities.

After a delicious breakfast made by Telma, we were off to El Salvador!  We spent five and a half hours in the van but had lots of laughs including when the El Salvador police and health services wanted to give us a shot for the Swine flu because they thought we were from Mexico!  We were not about that, however!  We then checked into the place we are now staying which is an olympic training center for athletes!  It's is pretty nice and very safe with lots of security guards all over the place.

We then were off to our first game against the 17-plus national team.  The girls were very good and we lost by about 15.  We had a great time however and there were lots of laughs between the different international rules that we don´t understand and Flip´s half court behind the head shot to end the first half!  After the game, Ariel shared her testimony and the leaders gave a call to prayer and all the girls said they accepted Christ!!!  It was a very cool and powerful experience for both teams and truly a lot of fun and a good time trying to use what little Spanish we knew to communicate with the girls on the other team and some of the fans.

We then hit up some Wendy´s after the game and had a pretty good time.  We were exhausted, so after a quick shower, we went straight to bed!  It was a great second day!
